California Coastal Cleanup Day

Every year, on the third Saturday in September, people come together at sites all over California to take part in the State's largest volunteer event, CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEANUP DAY….a fun event for volunteers of all ages.

This Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, from 9:00 am till noon, Santa Barbara residents can join hundreds of thousands of participants worldwide in clearing trash and debris from our beaches, shorelines, and inland waterways.

In 1993, California Coastal Cleanup Day was recognized by the GUINNESS BOOK of WORLD RECORDS as the “largest garbage collection” ever organized, with 50,405 volunteers!!

CCC is part of the International Coastal Cleanup…..the largest volunteer event on the planet!

This year YOU can be a part of it!

There is no need to pre-register. A beach captain will provide necessary instructions and supplies. You are, however, encouraged to provide your own reusable gloves, bags or buckets to reduce waste. And remember to bring water, shoes, and sunscreen.

Coastal Cleanup Day is a great way for local residents to celebrate and share their appreciation of California's beautiful coastline.

And at the end of a morning of sun and cleanup, On The Alley offers a great option for lunch….a delicious meal ready to enjoy either… TAKE OUT or PICNIC-BENCH DINING.
